From an interview with Snteil Seit:
“I left Sullust during the final days of the Empire. I jumped world and ran away from home with the Rebels (since my uncle would not allow me to go…my parents having been killed years earlier during an Imperial raid were no longer around). I left with the Rebels and took a ‘job’ as a gunner on one of the larger Calamarian capital ships during the Battle of Endor. After the battle, I accompanied the Rebels to Coruscant, where I left them (diplomacy NOT being my thing) and quickly got involved in the ‘underground’ business of smuggling. However, having captured a fugitive almost completely by accident on my very first smuggling run and receiving the bounty for him, I knew that bounty hunting was the profession for me. I was quite skilled at it, too, if I do say so myself . . . and I do. As the years went by, I became a fairly well known (and feared) bounty hunter. However, about 4 years ago, my opinion changed drastically, when I captured a Wookiee named Kyykash for a Hutt on Nar Shaddaa. During the trip back to Nar Shaddaa, the Wookiee, with the help of my translator/pilot droid Z-3P0 (or Zeethree for short), explained that he was being unjustly hunted.
“Well, I got to thinking about this and realized that Kyykash was right. But, I had taken the job and had already taken part of the bounty up front (which I no longer had, thanks to Zeethree. He desperately wanted a sensor upgrade . . . the paranoid freak). Long story short, I took Kyykash in, received the rest of my bounty and left to go drown my sorrows in a local pub.
“Well, a few hours later and highly inebriated, I decided to head back to the Hutt’s and rescue Kyykash. After that, I had a friend for life (or so I thought) in Kyykash, something about a ‘Life Debt’ thing. I tried to explain to him that his life was only in danger because of me, so we should be even. He said that if it hadn’t been me who had captured him, it would have been someone else.
“So, for the next couple years, we traveled around, taking odd jobs here and there, mostly charters and smuggling operations. I eventually learned Shyriiwook, much to the relief of Zeethree. It was during one of these charters that I met up with Kurrelgyrre. We had taken this Jedi Adept to Yavin 4 to join up with the now famous Luke Skywalker and his Jedi Academy. As we were leaving, a group of hunters (still QUITE upset about my breaking of the Code of the Bounty Hunters) attacked my ship, the Aurora. In a vain effort to disengage and escape, I made a critical error with a hyperspace jump and crashed on Yavin 4. I was near death, and my poor girl, the Aurora, was beat up pretty bad. We were found by one of Luke’s young Jedi, a 15 year-old human boy by the name of Davin Litol. He healed me and nursed me back to health. That boy awakened something in me that to this day I still cannot explain.
“We went back with him to the Jedi Academy, which is where I met Kurrelgyrre, not to mention the Galactic Heroes: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Chewbacca. It was the latter two that helped me fix the Aurora back up (and gave me a few additional pointers on how to sup-up the hyperdrive). During my time on Yavin 4, Davin helped to nurse this new power I felt inside of me. He said my sensitivity towards the Force had awakened. And, in doing so, I had opened a whole new world for myself. Davin began to teach me simple things (for I wasn’t quite ready to just ‘join up’ with the Jedi). However, after only a short stay on Yavin 4, we were attacked. During the battle Davin died while trying to protect me. I still haven’t forgiven myself for that poor boy’s life. After the funeral, Luke told me he felt that I had great potential in the Force, but my lack of determination and devotion to the Force would be my downfall. Nevertheless, Luke still presented me with Davin’s lightsaber, stating that he knew Davin would have wanted me to have it. I accepted it. Overwrought with grief, Kyykash and I left Yavin 4 shortly thereafter.
“For another year, Kyykash and I traveled. I was still not over the loss of that boy. In fact, I was thinking about that, when the attack came. The bounty hunters had found me again. Only this time, they caught us, or would have if Kyykash hadn’t rushed them. He allowed me to escape, but at the cost of his life. Now, my life was worth the lives of two others.
“I came back and retrieved Kyykash’s body, which was just left in the street to rot. It was a trap, I knew. But, I got in, retrieved the body and escaped. I have now traveled to Kashyyyk to return the body to his family and tell them of his death.”
